I have a mirror raid I was told if a drive failed all data was safe. Had a drive fail yesterday 14 DECEMBER 2012 so turned of system and replaced the failed drive, turned on system did not boot up so put windows 7 system disk into cd drive & presses F2 until we had an option screen on exiting screen the system rebuild the new drive. – THE PROBLEM 1- all seemed ok system rebooted BUT on opening outlook message appeared “ saying outlook data file old delete file” Outlook says last updated 28 NOVEMBER 2012. PROBLEM 2 and the BIGER problem of the two is; within my documents folder my files between 28th November 2012 and 14 December 2012 have disappeared.
Could there be two mirror volumes and it has restored from the earlier mirror volume. IS there a way of recovering my uptodate files

how is the raid made, is it through windows, or through the bios.

if it is through the bios then the rebuild should be done in bios, and windows should have just worked.

raid is not a backup mechanism. raid is to ensure continuity rather than a backup.
