I am looking for a wireless router and have narrowed it down to these two. However for both of them I have seen at least 1 article saying each supports Stateful Packet Inspection and and other that says it doesn't. Does anyone know the true answer?

Also, a ZDNET/CNET article calls the 2623 an editor's choice saying it has "advanced active" firewall capabilities far beyond other products in its class. Do these include SPI? If not what are the "features"? Are they equal to or better than SPI?

All help would be appreciated

Thanks

I couldn't really tell from your post what class of wireless router you're looking into, whether 802.11b/a, T1 class or cable/DSL, but if you're looking into a simple broadband wireless router, I can tell which model NOT to get. Don't get the Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router/switch, unless you like struggling for hours to get mediocre, flaky connections.

I first tried two BEFW11S4s, to outfit a client's single story 3-br home, and after hours of upgrading firmwares, trying different adapter card drivers, and tweaking settings, I gave up on the Linksys.

I replaced it with a Belkin Wireless Gateway/Router/Switch and the laptops and remote desktops automatically discovered the new router. The connection is great. I'd definitely recommend the Belkin.

I just did this yesterday, so that's why the lengthy opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide on!
