I'm about to purchase a new computer and I would like to be able to transfer
all the data from my old computer to the new one. Both computers will be
using windows xp professional edition. I'm pretty sure this should be easy
but I have no ideal how to go about it and am going to need step by step
intructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use XP's File and Settings Transfer Wizard. It's in Accessories > Sytem
Tools.
