1 Ghz Celeron
512 mb sdram
asus p2b (2X AGP)
So how will my new 9500 pro or 9600 pro (haven't decided yet) perform on this sytem. Won't be to bad will it? Currently I have a Matrox g400 16mb ram :(

EDIT: Hmmm... I just realized my computer doesn't even meet the requirements for the 9600 (4X AGP minimum). So, maybe I should just get a video card for today's games then, GF4 Ti4200? Or Radeon 8500?

Yea, without at least AGP4x, your a little screwed. No worries, you can still get a good card.

assuming you have a sufficient power supply the 9500 pro might work for you. I'm not familiar with your motherboard and too lazy to look it up so does it have on board video? If so this could be a problem and ATI specifically states they do not gurantee compatibility with mobo's that have onboard video. Plus how much are you willing to spend? Given what you have now you could probably get a decent mobo/cpu combo that is better than yours in addition to the video card for not too much money.

Written on my 9500Pro box, it says......
Pentium 2,3,4, Celeron/K6
AGP 8X/4x/2x
128mb of system memory.
He should be ok.

But my power supply is only 250 watts (I believe because the moddel number is something like XX-250ATX) and I think the 9500 requires 300 watts, does it not?
Hell, I think i'll go with the geforce4 ti4200 but there are so many manufacturers, what are some good manufacturers that I should pick? You don't need to plug the ti4200 into the power supply, do you?

no you don't, but unless your power supply gives a SOLID 250W you may still come up short with a ti4200. hopefully the celery doesn't draw too much power (aren't they both on the 3.3?)

A ti4200 aint bad (as far as power requirements), and aint a bad performer either. And a 1gig celery could run off the power provided by one of those solar calculators.
(not really but...) I think ull be fine.
