Some not so common benchmarks 5900Uv9800P

Just thought most would like to see some 'other' benchmarks involving the NV GF FX5900Ultra vs the ATI R9800pro 128/256
as well as the 9700P and 5600U (rev.2). Unlike the standard, Q3, SS SE, 3Dmk01/03, THIS review from GamePC has included No One Ever Lives Forever 2, Warcraft, Vice City, Freelancer and UT2K3 (ok tha's a standard bench but god for comparison). This does show performance on some games that may not have specific optimizations for the Fx5900U. It's interesting to note that there are issues with Vice City and the FX5900U, but supposedly a patch is fothcoming. And the comment about NOLF2 being 'meant to be played' is kinda funy. Just like the Dawn demo playing better on ATI cards.

Here's the link again;

I found that review someplace I was whoreing around at and I dug on it. All on one page. Using all games as benchmarks. Alot of people bagged on it because of the lack of IQ tests, but lol, I get tired of looking at 10x blown up screen shots for hours. I thought it was a refreshing review, in these times of video turmoil.
(plus it looks good for ATi in most of those benches)

Yeah agreed, I'd prefer (if it's a reviewer I trust) that they giv eone example of IQ diff. (if they saw any) and then mention it during the post if it was decernable, but no need for images unless it's some glaring 'new' difference.
I'd like to see more reviews like this covering more games, like NHL 2003, Morrowind (just saw a review yesterday but all the links inside the review to the benchmarks had expired), and a few others. This gives me the feeling that the 'non-popular/common' benchmarking utilities/results will give us a better overall idea of performance. And we may indeed see LESS IQ differences simply because those 'cheat' optimizations aren't seen in either card.

Also I'd like to see a Tetris review just to see if indeed you can get 1000FPS (like one test I did in 3Dmk2000 [~900fps]) on an old game. Maybe te original Doom and Quake.

You guys are animals... goodness... !

Hey man, that's a good article. I enjoyed reading it, especially because of the original game benchmark suite. Thanks for "whoreing" it out, whatever the HELL that means... GO ATi! Holding up to a brand new card like that takes good craftsmanship.

Yes......... craftsmanship.

I can just imagine some 80 year old guy in his work shop with a hammer and a file and a soldering iron puttin some chips on a pice of pcb.

"ALAS, MY WORK IS DONE! I call it, the Radeon 9800 Pro! Its way cooler than any nVidia product ever could be!"

I'll whore it out to ATI so they can mass produce in 30 minutes (per card) what has taken me the last 30 years to build!

My goodness, Willamette...

THAT'S JUST WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!

I was talking about workmanship, little things that no one notices at first. Like a super-efficient memory controller. It took him 30 years to make it huh? WELL, I guess he had to update his technology pretty often.

Hey, there were no graphics cards 30 years ago...

Aaaah, but there were graphics cards 30 years ago. 1972 Pong -- and yes I played it whenever I could find it.

Maximum PC - shame on you ;)
