No more 9500Pro..

My 9500Pro burned to the ground today. First I got major graphical errors, then I rebooted. You ever hear that dreaded sequence of beeps frome your motherboard signaling no video?....I got it. Toast.
I think I need some quiet time......

What a way to ruin your Saturday. Did you do any physical mods to your card? If not, I'd just RMA it and play dumb. Sorry to hear about that!

well, I really dont know how I feel right now.
I had $100 bucks saved for an Nforce2 mobo, but it looks like I'm going to have to pick up a Ti4200 to get me by.

And also, RMA'ing it is out of the question. The card has been changed way to much

Sorry to hear that man, even if it was only an ATi card. Welcome to the club, once you go Nv you never go back!

I think warrantees say something about the quality of the card, I much rather have a 3-5 year warrantee over one year. Just something to consider when you get your new card, because even if I was to rip off the heat sink I rather do it on a card worthy of such a long warranty.

I completely agree, that's why I love ATI cards. My old Xpert@Play 4MB can still be RMAed to this day!

JFYI, I just added ramsinks to the card(lastnight), and the memory was at 310 when it croaked. Before ramsinks I couldnt get over 300. I should have known better

Well it does look like speeduk's a poor sap who has fallen for the upgrade cycle and wants 10% more performance by a 9800PRO!

Man I'd pay the shipping right up.

But I think I'll let GW be the lucky guy, he deserves it more than anyone else. Except now you'll have to try to beat HIS 9700PRO!!!

This is how i can afford a 9800 pro. I had £600 for upgrades, was gonne get a 2.8ghz p4/asus canterwood/new case and hard drive but i decided to take a risk and try and save money.
I got a 2100xp, 512mb ram and a new mobo for 200 and kept my current hard disks and case, saving myself a cool £400 and i get almost the performance of what i wanted to get. So now i have £400 left to get a nice 9800 pro that will last me well into next year and end up with a system a hell of a lot faster than a 2.8c with a 9700 and £100 to spare. Maybe i will get that sata raptor drive after all hehe...

What a nice guy:
I would have gone with plan A myself, also clock the 2.8 at 3.3+, then later got the FX, or in your case the next Ati card that comes out. But I always like raw power vs over clocking the h3ll out of my system, then again my XP1800 wouldn’t clock worth of sh*t.

dude nVidia sucks just like ATi, go get ur self a Matrox or even better Xabre400 hahahahahaha.............

anyways........ if ur gonna get a Ti4200 try to find the PNY one, it has memory heatsink as well so u can overcloking ur head off with this one too!!
