Need Help Selecting a GeForce Video Cards

I need some direction. I am upgrading my system and I am trying to figure out which video card I should use. Currently 7 generations behind the 5900 card. I am looking for speed and great graphics to be used in a gaming system. I use a 2.8 ghz P4 cpu with 1024 mb ram. Any help would be appreciated.

The best cards for their price ranges are (from cheapest to most expensive):

Radeon 8500/9100
Geforce4 Ti4200
Radeon 9500 PRO/9600 PRO
Radeon 9700
Radeon 9700 PRO
Radeon 9800/ Geforce FX 5900 ULTRA (tied for first place)

IMHO

get the best one you can afford, but don't break the budget. Always remember that the ubercards of today are the value cards 1 year from now.
