Hi,

If I do A as though I do B, the game sees me doing B right?
I ask because I don't see you Mycosynth Lattice won't help with
Sunburst (as Rune Horvik says in Saturday School #79).

Mycosynth Lattice
{6}
Artifact
All permanents are artifacts in addition to their other types.
All cards that aren't in play, spells, and permanents are colorless.
Players may spend mana as though it were mana of any color.

Infused Arrows
{4}
Artifact
Sunburst (This comes into play with a charge counter on it for each
color of mana used to pay its cost.)
{T}, Remove X charge counters from ~this~: Target creature gets -X/-X
until end of turn.

No. The game sees you doing A, but it allows you to do it as though you could
do B.

There are very specific cases for "As though".

--A Giant Spider doesn't have flying, but can block flying creatures.

--The top card of your library isn't in your hand, but with a Future Sight in
play, you can play it like it was.

--Celestial Dawn allows you to spend white mana as though it were any color.
It doesn't change the fact that the mana is white, it just allows you to
satisfy non-white color requirements to pay for spells and abilities.

--Mycosynth Lattice is the same as Celestial Dawn, but includes any mana. It
doesn't change the mana's color in any way, just how you can spend it.

Which means, in each case:

--A Giant Spider that blocks a Serra Angel can't be killed by a Hurricane. The
rules allow the Spider to block the Angel, but don't change the fact that the
Spider can't fly.

--If you play a Phage the Untouchable off of the top of your library (which you
can with Future Sight), you'll lose the game when it comes into play. Future
Sight allows you to play the top card of your library, but doesn't change the
fact that the card isn't in your hand.

--A Soul Burn paid for entirely with white mana (through Celestial Dawn)
doesn't gain you any life. You can play the white mana as black mana to pump
the X, but the game still sees it as white, so you don't gain any life from it.

--If you pay for a Sunburst card with five Forests and a Mycosynth Lattice in
play, it comes into play with only one counter. You could try to spend the
green mana as though they were any color of mana, but the game, and thus the
ability, sees that it's green.

Only right then and only for the purposes of doing B. In actuality you don't
do B at all, you do A.

Because the Lattice lets you pay mana _as though_ it were of any color. This
is only for the purpose of actually paying it, not anything else; the mana
does not actually change color, you just pretend it did so you can pay with it.

Later on, Sunburst asks "What did you pay with?" The game can -say- "Well,
he pretended he was paying with WUUBG..." but Lattice just says " I didn't ask
what he pretended to do, you know." and the game says "...but he really paid
4WU".

Similarly, Celestial Dawn/Mycosynth Lattice do not help with Soul Burn's
damage; it looks to see what you -did- pay, not what you paid it as. And
for a different type of example, Crosswinds doesn't affect a Giant Spider
even during the time you're declaring it as a blocker-as-though-it-had-
Flying; it never actually has flying, and Crosswinds isn't asking +how it
blocks+. And things that later on ask how it -blocked- would not get the
answer "with Flying".
