So I just bought a new notebook; HP ProBook 4530s 15.6in Notebook. It came with Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and Windows Recovery CD's, which includes a 64-bit CD.
I want to install 64-bit Windows 7 over the current 32-bit installation that was already installed on the notebook but I don't want to do it unless I'm sure that it's going to still be activated and basically exactly the same as the 32-bit one. There's a CD for all the HP software and drivers.
So will the 64-bit version already be activated once installed?

You'll probably need to re-activate it using the Windows 7 code on your laptop. Best thing to do is to check with HP if you want a 100% answer.

However, if you have 4 gig or less of RAM, I'd keep the 32 bit, it's a bit tougher to get some applications running on 64 bit OSs.
