Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding a problem I'm having. I just purchased a Radeon 9500 and I'm having a difficult time installing it. When I put it in, the computer will turn on half the time and when it does turn on, it'll reset my BIOS to default settings. I have an Asus P4B533 board and ATI is of no help. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Your power supply may be too weak to handle it. What is your Power supply rated at in Watts?

It sets your BIOS to the defaults? Maybe the bettery for your motherboard just died? If thats not it then something is definatly bad. Might even be a kaput motherboard.

The thing is, I put my old video card back in and the motherboard settings hold fine. In fact, the whole computer runs fine with the old vid card in, just getting the error when the new card is put in.

hi, note that u did not indicate whether u disabled ur old video card before u swopped it over.
Also, make sure that if the mobo has onboard graphics that they too are disabled. u can check these in the device manager.

If you have your bios settings in your old configuration (before the new video card) then you start up with the new video card if you go into the bios will it be ok (still old configuration) or will the cmos be cleared on the next reboot?

The CMOS will be cleared, but any changes I make to it will be retained with the old vid card. So it looks like the radeon didn't damage my mobo. I've resigned to the fact that it looks like it may have been trying to draw too much power from my mobo. Damn Radeons.
