My mouse pointer erratically jumps from corner to corner and is unusable
every few minutes. If you move the mouse vigorously back and forth eventualy
it will go back to proper function. I have run a spy ware and virus scan and
have found nothing. I originally had a problem with another standard PS-2
mouse where it would just hang and not move, I figured since it was an older
mouse it was just failing, so I bought a new microsoft optical mouse that is
NOT wireless to try and resolve the problem. As soon as I replaced the mouse
this new problem came about. The previous mouse was PS-2 and the new one is
USB so the location it is plugged into shouldn't be the issue. I have seen
posts all over the web about with similar problems, but no one seems to have
a solution. Please help!

I also have the error. In my case, I use a Pen mouse in my TabletPC, as well as a USB optical mouse. If I open device manager, and
disable the pen (Human Interface Device in the list of devmgmt.msc), I don't get the erratic cursor.

If you have a second mouse device, (mousepad, ball, etc) I suggest trying a uninstall of it from dev mgr (action menu), to see if it
helps. I permanently disable (see checkbox in properties) my pen, till I need it. (a refresh of dev mgr devices finds it after
re-enable)

I realize this is a poor workaround (kludge) but I thought it might work for you till they find the bug in SP2 that (I believe) is
causing it.

Unfortunately, I do not have any other pointing devices attached to my desk
top PC. Thank you for the idea! Does anyone else have any other possible
fixes?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
