3DMark issue with new card

I did the 9500 np install last night, and I have to say I was a very happy man. The soft9700 patch appeared to work flawlessly and the card I got seems to be a real OC workhorse. It is now read as a 256bit 9700 with all 8 pipelines. The Sapphire cards appear to not be clock locked as I was able to crank the thing up real well without flashing anything. I didn't even find the limits because it was getting late. Got up to about a 340 core 330 mem without any problem. Best $139 I have spent on my system!

Now the issue...The system crashes on some of the 3DMark2001se tests. It did that even before any patch or OCing. I even installed the latest directX and vid driver and tried again. No dice. I set my system to default bios settings, placed a fan next to the comp...no help. The strange thing is that 3dMark2003 ran perfectly as did Dronez. I also had the thing running for hours while I installed stuff and surfed the web. Do you have any suggestions? It always died on the nature test and the bump map test. Thanks again.

programs running in the background, buggy driver, your vid card settings, buggy copy of 3dmark2001se... these are the most likely...

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

That's weird.

Sometimes certain tests will stress certain parts of the card. It's possible it's defective I guess, try it on someone else's machine and see if it'll run 3dmark...

Well I am pretty sure the card is solid. I have run 3dMark2003 several times without a hitch, and last night I played several hours of jedi knight 2 at the highest settings without an issue. I have installed 3 different drivers with the same results. The copy of 3DMark2001se I have has been used on my other computers several times without incident. Crashman has stated that he has had trouble with the Win98se Cat drivers newer than 3.2. I may try to install that older driver if I can find it. Thanks for your suggestions.
