Short and sweet ALL ati 8500s (LE or not) are better than the 9000s.
The only advantage of the 9000 is fullstream video smoothing. Which is good for viewing internet video.

For games, the 8500s are superior in MOST instances.

BTW, th 8500 is better than the 8500LE.

Try and see if you can get hold of a 9600 pro, its DX9 Card and has a 256-bit memory bus, or a geforce FX 5600 ultra rev 2.0, also a DX9 card but has a 128-bit memory bus.

9600 PRO would be better indeed, but if your price range is Radeon 8500 or 9000, you might want to look for a Geforce4 Ti 4200. They are cheap and very good, much better than the 8500 and 9000.

Does Radeon9600Pro has 256-bit memory bus?
I don't think so..

No, the 9600 PROS do not have a 256 bit memory bus, and neither does the 9500 PRO.

The only card with a 256 bit memory bus are 9700s, 9700 PROS, 9800s, 9800 PROS, and some anomalous 9500 non-pros that sold on a 9700 PCB. (Like my own. ;)

Also, the GeforceFX 5900's have a 256 bit memory bus.

The radeon 8500 retail is better for all its features is hardware. Some features on the 9000 is software, which your performance will take a tank.

And most of those 'software' enhancements can be had from an 8500->9100 bios flash, although I don't recommend that for anyone not willing to lose their card in the process.
