Im not sure if you noticed but that article is not written in english thus making it unreadable to a majority of users here. Perhaps you could just tell us what it says?

Yes, would be very useful...

Give a lazy man an easy job and he'll find an easier way of doing it.

It appears to be chinese for those of you wishing to translate using babel.

Yeah it may be an OEM's 'replacement'/equivalent of the R9600PRo, but it still requires a power conector (floppy not Molex, kinda like a 9500pro). And yes it looks like a 128bit memory path. So to me it's not a replacement so much as a crippled 9800. It's the kind of thing Dell might put in their machines.

I think it's in no way a replacement as it likely costs more to make (since it's based on the R350 core). I really can't see the market for this except for some people to try and mis-lead consumers into thinking it's a REAL 9800/9800Pro.

By the way here's the article that this is based on (pre-translated for HER pleasure):

AND there is a mention elsewhere at PCPOP of the FX5600SE equivalent lurking out there.

humm.. yet the naming scheme sounds rather awkward, i assume "SE" stands for "2nd edition" or "special edition" ??
so it sounds that as if it is superior than the 9800, but infact it is just a tweaked 9600. performance wise, it wont match the current 9800??
so shouldnt ATI call it the 9800 LE?

All 9800 cards use the same GPU, 8 pixel pipeline, 128MB minimum DDR memory, GPU, and 256 bit memory interface.

The PowerCore data sheets on the XR98-C3L (non-pro) shows a 256 bit floating precision while the XR98-C3(pro) show 128 bit floating point precision. But, I think its a typo and there both the same at 128 bit or at least the same. Why would the pro model be worse than the non-pro?

I doubt they use a different GPU's (R350) or board lay- outs. Why? This gives vendors an easy way to bundle slower clocked GPU's and memory on the same board and just flash the BIOS to the new Core/Memory timings. Another reason that the none pro versions are at the same timings as the "old" 9700pro is to makes sure that the "new" 9800 (non pro) is better than the old 9700 pro because it offers a more sophisticated smartshader / smoothvision technology.
