Hi, Wanted to get everyone's opinion on this. I am going to purchase a new graphics card. I don't think I will go for the 9600, cuz it sucks compared to 9500 and 9700.
But is the 9700 pro worth the extra $110 compared to the 9500 pro.

Thanks in advance

I bought the 9600 pro and it doesnt suck compared to a 9500. It runs cooler, consumes less power, and can be overclocked easily. Tweaking it even a little gives very close performance to a 9500 PRO, and its cheaper and more widely avaliable. Then again, i did get my card at best buy @ employee cost ;D

If you have the cash buy the 9700, but dont discount the 9600 pro, i think its a fine card.

9600Pro is a GOOD card. as said earlier, it overclocks like a dream and is comparable to 9500PRo in most of the benchmarks. the Difference betwenn 9500 and 9600 wud be hardly noticable.

The 9700 Pro is a VERY GOOD card. Its really worth the extra money u shell out, if u cud afford it.

The 9800Pro is a DAMN GOOD (the best) card. but comes at a price.

If u cud afford a 9700Pro, its the best bang for the buck.

thinking of a good sig. till then...

Jus tot add to all of the above, your decision shouldn't be between a 9500pro and a 9700pro if you are worried about money (and if you weren't there wouldn't be a discussion you'd already have your 9800pro in your hands).

The 9700 NON-PRO is your best price/performance answer. There is nothing anywhere near it, not from Nvidia (not a flame) and NOT from ATI's other products IMO.

The 9500PRo is a nice card, and worthy of the discounts it can be had at. However new and retail prices are often high enough above the R9600Pro as to make it about even for price/performance (but then again what's $20 for some more performance, eh?)

The 9600Pro is a GOOD card, as is the 9500Pro.
The 9700Non-pro however is a much MUCH better card (different league), and then anything above that costs 'too much' money for the price concious buyer for the minimal boost in performance.

Is it worth the extra money from a 9500Pro to a 9700Pro? I don't know what are you trying to do? If you're playing older games primarily, then no, if you want something that will handle later games like HL2, D]|[, DeusX 55, etc. BETTER, then go with the extra scratch.
So if you need to play later games get the better cards, but if you are even considering price, go with the 9700non-pro.

Just my two frames worth.
