I have two desktops and two laptops, all with XP Pro, networked by a
wireless router at home. I have a large partition on one desktop for
storing documents, downloads, etc. It serves as an access and storage
point for the entire network and contains several hundred folders.

Friday, I noticed that one of the desktops can see folders, but not all
the files in many of the folders in this storage partition. The
partition is in the other desktop.

This situation didn't exist the day before. The other three computers
see the entire network normally. I copied a couple of folders and their
contents from the problem computer's desktop and pasted them into the
storage partition. The folders arrived normally, but their contents had
disappeared.

There are no viruses or spyware and the problem desktop stiil sees
everything normally in every other network drive. I poked around in its
settings Saturday and didn't find anything odd or unusual.

What could be causing this? I'll appreciate suggestions.

Thanks..

that machine might be set to not 'view hidden or system files' (start/run, type: CONTROL FOLDERS)
