OK quick question abotu Samurai of the Pale Curtain. It says when a
permanent goes to the graveyard it is removed form the game instead.
Now what do they mean by permanent? Can i discard a creature card and
will that go into the graveyard or will it be removed from play? Are
the only things that get removed from the graveyard actual cards that
are in play?
thanks in advance.

A card is only a permanent if it's in play. So if you have to discard for
any reason while Samurai of the Pale Curtain is in play, and the discarded
card is an Artifact, Creature, Enchantment, or Land, then it still goes to
the graveyard. Because when a card is in your hand, it's nothing more than a
card with a type (Creature, Sorcery, etc), not a permanent.

An enchantment, creature, land, or artifact that is in play. (well,
that's a bit redundant, since they aren't enchantments, creatures,
lands or artifacts when they aren't in play, they're just cards)

No, a card that is not in play is not a permanent. The card
goes to the graveyard.

Nothing either in play or out of play gets removed from the graveyard
by this card. Only cards (and tokens) that are in play are redirected
from the graveyard to the RFG zone.

A permanent is any card that's in play. Cards in your hand are not in
play, and thus not permanents, so discarded stuff will still go to the
graveyard as usual.

Tokens are also permanents, actually, though it doesn't make much
difference to this particular card.

Some, though. Some cards look for stuff in play going to the graveyard,
and they'll trigger on a token going to the graveyard--but not when
this card's in play...

Yes.

>Now what do they mean by permanent?

A "permanent" is a card or token in the in-play zone.

>Can i discard a creature card and
>will that go into the graveyard or will it be removed from play?

A creature card in your hand is never a "permanent", because it is not in
play. In general, only cards (or tokens) in play can get affected by Samurai
of the Pale Curtain; it doesn't affect cards in players' hands, libraries,
graveyards, on the stack, or in other zones.

[The Unhinged preview card for yesterday shows a case where it -can- affect
a card on top of someone's library.]

Cards, or tokens. But yes, they have to be going from in-play to the graveyard,
as "in play" is the only place a "permanent" can exist.

That means anything in play (remember that) that goes to the graveyard is
removed from the game instead. It's like Nether Void.

<<

It'll go to the graveyard. At that time, it's not a permanent. It's just a
card that will become a permanent once it's in play. But it isn't yet, so the
Samurai will not affect it.

Yes, that's it.
