hello, I am currently build a new pc, it si a all in everything PC for internet , games(all types) and music recording.

I have kidda narrowed dn't the list of video cards I am interested in.

I have had people sugest to me the ATI 9500 pro as well as the ASUS geforceFX 5600. there was a discussion on here that compared teh 2, with the genral opinion that the ATI is far better, yet the frame rates in tom lastest guide show the 5600 above in frame rate?? Also I am look at the MSI: MSI FX5600-VTDR128 that got the editor shoice award in toms lastest guide.

I thank you all for you timeless giveing and help.
Don't feel limited by just these cards, I just need to know what to get!

I thankyou all , Kevin Nemrava

The best buy for the buck is the GF4 4600,I would pick it over any 9700ati or or nvidia FX models and that includes the FX5900 Ultra.Well some will say he,s nuts. They have their right to say anything they want, but I,have had all the cards mention and I know what they will do,The diff of a GF4 4600 with driver 44.03 in 3D Mark is 2000 points 14168 ver,s 16000 for FX5900 with a 3 gig system. Now with those scores you want notice game play diff.Besides you can pick up a GF4 4600 for $160 with shipping.

If you're ordering online, then EVERYTHING is within your grasp. Go here, if you want a 9700nonpro.

Tit for tat, butter for fat, ATi's dog kicks nVidia's cat

Out of your bloody mind.

5900 Ultra performs onpar with a 9800 pro, 5600 ultra performs on par with a 9600 pro or 9500 pro winning some loosing some (when it comes to af/aa it generally doesnt perform quite as well at higher res.) A high end gf4 (4600/4800 (non se)) will outperform almost any of the value cards from nvidia or ati.

definitely 9700 pro. Can even pick them off on ebay for $200 if you are lucky. Seen even a few bought at "buy it now" for $175 but they go almost instantly.

First of all the people telling you which card to buy, most only can tell you what they got and what it looks to them. But I,ve had all the cards mention and you will sae money and get a better card with the GF4 4600.here is a URL check it out.tit for tat they they know that.I got a FX5900 now,but I had an ATI 9800 pro befor the FX5900.Didn't like it sold it for a bit on Ebay.I had the GF4 4600 befor the FX5900 and the 4600 was a sweet card.
URL for the MSI $159.

What is it your URL is supposed to 'know'/show?

Glad you like your FX5900, however the R9700Pro will eat the GF4 in everything but Q3(and then only at LOW res. no AA/AF)

Go with the GF4-4200 if you are on a budget. Otherwise go with an R9700. The R9700(non-pro or pro) are far superior cards.

I,ve had a ATI 9800pro as I mention above, and I can tell you it want eat the FX5900 at anything except that the ATI 9800 pro did look a little better in the image department in some areas, but still not user friendly as Nvidia cards.I,m lucky you might say to be able to get any type card at any given time, and I could care less about the brand.I go for what is easy and simple and the job it does over all.And Im just telling this young man with out the BS on the toast what is better for the money. As we know the big card guys has been cheating on driver enhancement trying to get your money by maken you think the card is faster than the other.Only thing you get diff with the newer cards in bragging rights.I buy new cards because I can;boredom may be part of it also :).

Well Sharky I too have had my share of GF and ATi cards. I can tell you that the ATi card is just as easy to use and looks better than the GF 4 Ti4600. I just got rid of my TI4200 the other day and traded it for a 9500np. I love the difference. also I cannot possibly believe that you would reccomend a GF4 DX8.1 compliant card over a more future proof (and in his budget) DX9 card. The bottom line is that even a 9500NP would be better than a Ti4800 in a lot of cases. Also I would say that I was an Nvidiot for a long time (TNT2 up to GF4 Ti4200) so I know what Nvidia's standards usually are. Unfortunately they have failed to meet the latests standards with more than a satisfactory. ATi however is going beyond it in my eyes.

SO I say get a 9700NP and be very happy with your new card.

Just a computer junky

Yes, however we are talking about the 9700vs.GF4(whichever one doesn't matter much). And in that case the R9700s are a clear winner. As for the R9800PRo vs the FX5900, there's NO clear winner there, despite your personal experience. Now you may feel differently but I'd have to see proof, especially for something to recommend to the masses, and especially at a price premium (which most of those same masses care about).

I still don't get what that link was supposed to demonstarte.

Now, considering you didn't have an R9700, your first statement makes you no different than most others here.

So unless I missed something I still don't see how the GF4 is a better choice (especially vs a 9700non-pro) unless there is a VERY tight budget involved.

Cheating? I don't think you could explain any of the MASSIVE performance diff. between the R9700 and GF4 with that.

And as for getting whatever card you want, I could too, but I don't bore so easily (I have other hobbies) and every game I have ever owned played WELL on my systems (I never care(d) about my Bungolio Marks [Edit: Except against GW]). The main thing is what is bang/buck, regardless of how you look at it, there is ALWAYS something else you could spend your money on, so do it wisely even if to some it's TOO much.

And as he's talking R9500, FX5600, and now R9700; I think his situation is different than yours or mine. And in ALL of the above cases, these CARDS are better than a GF4 and if he can afford them then those are clearly better choices. There isn't another card out there that beats a 9700NP in price/performance IMO so that would always have been my recommendation. However he seems sold on the 9700PRO instead, so be it.
