9700 pro , help me pick

I will be ordering a 9700 from the above but it appears there are a number of versions?

what do I want, (I have figured out I need a 9700pro)

I would recommend a FX 5900 card, hehe. I can’t help you I’m wondering the same thing, accept for a 9800P. For a friend that is, since I’m a Nv fan

5900 is twice the price, for debatable performance increase

The hercules one if you can find it will overclock to 9800pro speeds. The ati one will almost get you that fast, same with saphire. If you aint into overclocking, get the cheapest..... My cheapy 9700pro will only do 347/324 with a good copper cooler on it. You get what you pay for.

Can't wait to get the new hercules ati card

I don't understand your sugestion.

But I am not concerned about overclocking, ... I plan on droping it in to the AGP slot and liveing with the result, .. I will be using the new MSI MB with DOT. but that will not change clock of MB's video stuff.

Sapphire 9700pro - very nice card.


ATI 9700pro - possibly better for overclocking, but more expensive

the ATI ones are cheaper though, ... the saphire is 339$

the ATI's (the first and last one, .. I have yet to figure out the differance) are 285 and 307 respecitvely.

.. I am confused, since the ATI is cheaper, .. and you say better should I then go with it.
