A7N8X Rev. 2.0 Motherboard, AMD Athlon 2700+, 512MB OCZ Dual Channel 333MHZ RAM, Radeon "Sapphire" 9800 Pro 128MB. The only old components on my PC are my hard drive (a 5400 RPM ATA100 drive), my sound card (an SBLive!Value), and my CD Drives (three of them).
The problem is basically benchmarks. I've attempted to tweak every option such as turning AGP fast write on, my memory sticks are in slots 1 and 3 and timings are 5-2-2-2. My framerate howeever in games and benchmarks such as 3dmark 2001 are unusually low. For example, my timedemo of demo001 in quake3 is about 250FPS or so where benchmarks from any site usually indicate at least 300. My 3dmark 2001 score is around 13000 where it should be more like 16000.
What is causing the decrease? I've set my opengl and direct3d options to their defaults and tested according to the specs on benchmarking sites (mainly tomshardware). Suggestions?
