Hello. I'm looking for a simple alarm programme for my T/E. I don't
need a stopwatch, countdown timer, world times, etc - just something
which allows me to set alarms. I've tried 'Bob's Alarms' but didn't
like it. If you know the Pocket PC built-in alarms programme I'd like
something like that. Thanks. david

If you do not /mind/ the stopwatch, the countdown timer and world times...
If you seek a free programs with several alarms and good flexibility...

It's not the prettiest of apps but it is very functional.

I was going to say so myself. If you intend to use it only as an alarm
clock, you will only need to see it for 2 seconds before snoozing or
dismissing. You can also download themes for BigClock. I use the LCD theme
myself.

I don't know how simple you want it, but did you know the Notepad
allows you to set one-time alarms?
Scribble whatever you want to be reminded of, then tap just above the
top of the scroll bar, right of the date - it's not obvious, because
there's nothing on the screen to actually tap. You can then set an
alarm time. It'll only go off once, and it will only use the system
alarm sound, but it may do the job.

Thanks for those comments. I didn't know you could set alarms in the
notepad. That's very useful. But I hardly ever use the notepad as I
still find scribbling anything legible on the screen very hard
I've decided to go for Big Clock and the LCD theme as Roy suggests. It
does look much better with the theme.
btw- Did you know that at Palmgear there's a clock called 9.95 clock
which looks _exactly_ like BigClock - except you have to pay for it. Is
it the same thing or is it an improved version or something. Just
curious.

Implementing this functionality is easy so many applications have it
built-in. Winamp, for example, has had a suitable plug-in since I was a
teenager so you could play your favourite songs too once you were awoken.
The downside, if not obvious, is that the computer must remain switched on.
I don't know if stand-by, hibernation and energy savings schemes always
honour signals from an alarm.

Thanks. That's wonderful to hear.

There are many projects that exploit other successful projects or just clone
them. They then try to gain financial rewards too. New Yanoff appears to be
one such example as it extends Yanoff which is GPL but has a cost. The Open
Source spirit is not in its healthiest state unfortunately.
