I have a budget around USD230 for Graphic Card. Which card should I buy? I am not a Gamer, I use it for doing light 3D, 2D application and short video editing.
Just would like to know that are those ATI or Geforce cards make different in term of performance/speed for 2D/3D application usage? Please advice? Thanks!
Nvidia's quadro 4 or FX series is really good for MAX and softimage.
Basically, buy the best one you can afford.
As far as e-bay, it's great, just pay attention to the seller's ebay rating. If they have a 100+ rating and no or very little negative feedback, chances are they are great.

Also you might want to consider an R9700non-pro or R9500Pro or High end GF4. With these you can use RIVATUNER and make a SoftGL or SOFTQuadro out of them. Cheaper/Better that way IMO. Although you won't get the same support of retail ones.

That sounds like a good deal. The FireGL 8800 is based on the 8500 however so a softGL R9500 or R9700NP will do better, but also cost more than that $100.
The FireGL 8800 should do you for the time being. Just be sure it is not an AGP PRO slot card (I think the 8800s were primarily regular AGP), but check to be sure, because AGP PRO will not fit a normal AGP slot and will even damage your mobo, if you could fit it in, if it is not suported.
