Not a problem, not a problem.
The first thing you do is download the latest Catalyst drivers from Ati.com. There will be 2 files you need... the driver, and the control panel.
Once their downloaded, put the card in.
When windows boots up it'll probably give the card a generic driver. Not a problem, just install the Ati catalyst driver as soon as it's up and running. It'll reboot.
After it reboots, run the second file you downloaded, the control panel. It'll reboot again.
You're done & good to go!

CLEEVEY?????? heh heh heh. Maybe I'll start calling you Cleevage. Yes, awesome.
And you have fun with your new 9600Pro, I have one too; it is a great card.
These days, no matter what company you like, be it nVidia, ATi, or whatever, no matter how logical your reasons, you're labeled an idiot or a fanboy, or both.

There is a driver suite known as Omega, which are tweaked. Give 'em a shot, they really yield a big difference for some people. If not, just unintall them and reinstall Catalyst.

Powerstrip is a fine utility. Some people have managed to overclock their stock-cooled 9600 Pro's core by 150mHz and the memory by 60mHz or so. Quite a substantial boost. Ask TheGreatGrapeApe overclocked the living HELL out of his. It's on this forum, somewhere...

Well, its made by Power Color, and its clocked lower than a 9600 (non-pro), its like a non-non-Pro, hence its low low price of $130. Youll be able to overclock it of course, but dont expect huge gains, especially with the memory.
Still a decent card, but if you think your dad just didnt know what he was getting you can tell him "hey you got me the cheap one, wtf was that?" and get him to cough up another 30 bux and get a real 9600 Pro.

Well, power color just changed their website (amazingly they managed to make it even sh*ttier than it already was!), and so I cant find the exact clock speeds, but I know theyre less than a 9600 non-pro... 190 is ringing a bell for the memory, not sure bout the core. Youll have to see when you get it.
I wouldn't expect crazy overclocks from it. Being a power color, it probably uses Inferion (read: inferior) memory like 3.6ns or something dunno, but not only that this one being clocked so much lower almost certainly has lower voltages. You definately wont be playing new games like UT2k3 maxed out with AA and aniso on, BF1942 probly 1024x768 4xAA 8x aniso or something, but that game looks like crap comon, I run it at 1600x1200 6xAA 16x quality aniso, but that dosn't save it from looking like crap.
I recommend returning it and getting a sapphire 9600 PRO for around $160.

Whoa, Whoa, WHOA!
Cleeve's instructions are missing on thing. Be sure to downlaod your MOBO's latest AGP/VGA or 4in1 drivers BEFORE installing your card. Especially on an older board. This is a vital component as the R9600P is not fully backwards compatible like most other cards.
Just a heads up, be sure to do that first, it's a quick and easy step, and the downloadable drivers are likely availible either from the MOBO makers or the Chipset maker.
- You need a licence to buy a gun, but they'll sell anyone a stamp (or internet account) ! RED GREEN GA to SK

Yes you'll be able to play ut2k3 at 1024x768 max detail no aa no aniso (actually probably with some aniso), but is that really the point? Point is if you got the 9600 Pro you could be enjoying AA and AF in more games, and u could overclock it alot more (probably)!
