Is there a knack to this, or do you lot all guess randomly too??

I saw six men kicking and punching the mother-in-law. My neighbour
said 'Are you going to help?' I said 'No, Six should be enough.'

Only the Oracle makes random guess.

Correction: The Oracle makes a divine random guess.

.... is something The Oracle would say if it wasn't so modest.

Dunno if it's a knack, more just being aware. I tend to leave it until
the last minute to make predictions, so that I've got the benefit of
the pundit opinions in the press (The Times has a good pullout on the
Tuesday of a Europe week), plus I'll check the bookmaker's odds for
games that I have little other information on. Mostly, though, it's
just playing a hunch - there will usually be a bunch of games that go
to form, and a few upsets, and the real trick is to spot which ones
will buck the trend.

Both for me. Check uefa.com for news/squads/past results/etc. Join that up to respective league
news and performance. Couple them up to tea leaves reading. There you go.
Which reminds me, I have to sign some new tea leaves. Present ones just are not up to scratch.

1st place!
I'd like to think this is the beginning of a tradition.

No, not in public. It's disclosed information.
