Greetings, All--

This is an idea I have for a type II competitive deck, based around
Ion Storm. I really like this card--it appeals to me on some level.
It may easily be a very easily-dismissed deck, but I thought I'd give
it a try.

4x Ion Storm
4x Energy Chamber
4x Arcbound Worker
4x Arcbound Stinger
4x Arcbound Slith
4x Slith Firewalker
2x War Elemental
4x Electrostatic Bolt
4x Shrapnel Blast
4x Pyrite Spellbomb

18x Mountain
4x Great Furnace

(Still working on sideboard...)

The basic idea, as stated earlier, revolves around Ion Storm. As a
damage-dealing enchantment in a format where artifact removal seems to
be key, I think it could be decent, especially because it seems to be
a very underrated card--at least where I am.

Of course, in order for Ion Storm to work, you need permanents with
counters. So in come the arcbound dudes. Energy chamber works well
here, as well, both as a source of counters for Ion Storm, or as an
easy way to make your small creatures larger.

The slith are another good source of counters, as they get more
counters over time (if they hit, of course.) Eventually, I started
thinking of another underrated card I really like--War Elemental.
There is a really neat synergy between Ion Storm and War
Elemental--remove one counter from the Elemental, deal two damage to
an opponent, and it ends up with two more counters.

The bolts are there for a little control. I thought about running
shocks over spellbombs, but chose spellbombs as another source of
fodder for the shrapnel blasts.

Please give me your comments and suggestions.....

Thanks.

Scott

My friend I play with almost daily made a Ion Storm deck. It has some
of the following:

4x Ion Storms
4x Aether Vials
4x Core Tappers
4x Shrapnel Blast
4x War Elemental
4x Vulshok Sorcerer

4x Great Furnace
4x Mirrodin's Core
4x Darksteel Citadels
10x Mountains

That's just some of the stuff he has in there that I can think of off
the top of my head.

Energy core would certainly be a nice addition to his deck.
