Detonator 45.23 WHQL

Anyone try out this driver?

For my case, it seems like it slow down my Ti4200 pixel shader test in 3DMArk2001SE, hence lower score for 3DMark (About 700pts lower). Quality wise seems fine...

yep I use them now.They install with out a warning lol.and they do seem very sane.and they are WHQL so want haft to mess with drivers for awhile.

Did I said 'Plus a patch'? There's patch update for 3DMark03.

And the reason is that I was asking if the new driver is designed to run modern game better than before...therefore a better 3Dmark03 rating. Graphic card like FX5600 runs very well on 3Dmark03 even with patch upated but not on 3Dmark01.

For my Ti, 3DMark03 doesn't change much...still around 1580. I'm not sure if this driver is good for new games or for new cards only. Probably they are trying to make the FX cards looks a lot better than the Ti cards (which is direct competitor to FX5600).

If you are loosing 3dmarks then the quality settings have probably been put back to good or non cheating levels.

And yes, at some point the detonators make no difference with older cards. It probably comming soon for the '4' series.

i set my mipmap LOD manually anyways, becaues Nvidia sets it much, much too low.


performance wise these drivers are no different for Gf4TI cards. i own one. just the default quality seems to be higher, so people who dont tweak settings will probably notice a drop.

personally id still be using 40.72 Dets, because they are teh fastest with great visual quality. but bugs keep me from using them

im currently using 45.23, ebcause of teh bug fixes

Im very glad i don't have to worry about all that now.
Just set everything to quality and let the Omega drivers and my card do the rest.

Don't have to tweak for individual games anymore either.

yes, Catalyst drivers are nice because when you set things to "Max Quality", you ARE gettin what you want.

maybe mipmap lod could be tweaked, but that has such a range anyways, so thats normal.

And the omega's are even better than the catylists. All merged into one file with tweaks specially for gaming.

You should try the Nvidia omega's.

oh yes im quite aware of Omega =)

i always had the "Quality" version of them installed with my 8500le

for ATI cards, they are incredible.

Nvidia cards? meh, i can do the same thing with RivaTuner... theres no real performance increase for me, and teh visual increases are Ansiotropic Filtering tweaks.

when GF4TI use AF, they become 4x1 architectures...

fillrate is around 500 single texturing/ 500 multi texturing when using AF. quite a change from 900 single texturing / 2100 multi texturing when not using it eh? quite a drop in frate rates in every game

so id rather have WHQL installed if i can do the same manually, and not use AF
