Best Buy has Radeon 9800 Pro for $299. Will the price be lower at the end of the year? Or buy now? My vid is TI 4200.

Dude, check their website. It's a non-Pro for $299, you must be mistaking.

I thought it might be. Pricegrabber has it listed with 9800 Pro's.

Hmm... Have you been to any Best Buy stores, maybe their website is wrong. I heard you can easily update the bios on the non-pro and make it a Pro. If that is the case then it's a hell of a deal.

Radeon 9800 non-pro is $249 this week at Best Buy, get 'em while they're hot.

Its the same card, just with lower clock speeds. You dont need to flash the bios, just overclock it. Most wont reach pro speeds though.

9800 NP = 325/290
9800 P = 380/340

They lower the voltages for the nps as well, which is why you probably wont get a 50mhz memory overclock, and a 55mhz core overclock. You could get lucky though, or get some extreme cooling, or volt mod it, also increasing the agp voltage can help a bit (increase signal strength on the board).

If you flash the BIOS then it will take care of the voltage problem as well, won't it?

oooo an upgrade...
The question is can you Ti4200 do what you want it to do???

If you get the R9800pro you will be able to do 1280x1024 with 4xAA and 16x Ansio in all current games. Is that something you NEED?

And yes, it WILL be cheaper by the end of the year. Everything will.
By then the R400 might be appearing, and the 256mb R9800pro much more common than the 128mb version.
