Hey Guys,

I would like to set-up a home network with only 1 IP address? I currently have a Athlon 1700XP with 256 Mram and a 40 Gig harddrive. I also have a Toshiba Laptop that I was going to set up in my daughters bedroom and network to my computer.

I think I can set-up a network using my computer as the gateway so both of us can surf the web with the same IP address.

Am I correct in thinking this? What software will I need? How do I do it?

Please HELP

Danny

you are correct, you will need to nic cards in the gateway computer. win 98 se up to win xp have internet connection sharing built in, that software will do what you need.

i went to the tomshardware forums and all i got was this lousy signature.

or you can just get a cable/DSL router. This way your PC doesn't have to be booted if you just want to surf with the laptop.

buy a 4 port Linksys Router, has built in FireWall..and allows like 253 users to share an IP..I doubt you will have more then 7 Computers. but you will need a hub when you go past your 4 pc limit.. i have 5 computers hooked up...everything works amazing

Once you go AMD, You never Go back!!
