I've been wondering about these four versions of directx, do they have any major differences to each other. And their adavantages in video cards if the gpu supports it. And in the gaming. Got link?

I don't know about dx 6, but I think that DX 7 had support for T&L Units and DX8 had support for pixel/vertex shaders and Programmable GPU support. As far as what DX 6 and 9 enhanced Graphics-wise, I have no idea! So I would be intersted in input as well.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

dx 9 has support for new, more advanced vertex and pixel shader operations. Although dx8 cards can use programable shaders, the ones in dx9 are more complex.
