Every time I try to run Error-checking on one of my drives it goes all the way to the end of phase 5 and then says "was unable to complete the disk check" I've ran it several times with the same result :( Any help out there?

Which one of the disks ... the 180GB? And when you run the disk defragmenter, what kind of error message do you see, if any?

Does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Have you got a screen saver running, or some other TSR in the taskbar that might be interfering with the process?

How was the drive partitioned, and with what kind of program ... the WinXP CD, FDISK, a third-party program like Partition Magic, or with the WD Data Lifeguard Tools?

Is the system overclocked?

Do you have an Anti-Virus program running in the background?
If so, disable it to run the program.
