FX5600 Vs. Ti4600

I used to have a PNY GeForce 4 Ti4600. It recently broke after about a year of use. After finding the PNY tech support phone number (they don't post it on the web site), I was able to convince them that the card was broken and they said they would replace it.

The replacement came in yesterday and they sent me a GeForce FX 5600(non-ultra). I am pretty sure my old card beats the pants off this thing in current DirectX 8 games. Does anybody know which one will be faster in games that will utilize DirectX 9? Did I get ripped off?

check the new buyers guide, odds-on your ti4600 would faster in most things except AntiAliasing & Ansio... not sure about Dx9 gaming as there is no real Dx9 games out yet...

Tell them your no fool and demand a 5600Ultra at the very least! and you have seen the benchmarks etc and unless they can prove that the card they have given you performs equally or better then they should by all rights agree. also should it no go very well mention you will be speaking to the gaming press ie: games mags watchdog pages(drop a few big names) and then prey....failing that your screwed for getting anything else out of them.

DEMAND an equal replacement, theres too much bullshit when dealing with video cards

Thats for sure! But actually, it is quite similar performance to Geforce4 Ti4600 but best of all, you have your card support for direct 9X which is icing on the cake.

it is true that ti4600 will kick 5600 ass in DX8.1
but it is also true that DX9 will be the opposite...as for game...there are game on the market that use DX9 as game engin...for example..."gun metal" or Lara croft her self in "angel of darkness"

As for u being riped off? well it depends on how u see it...becoz for a fact that U DUN HAVE TO PAY!!!!!
it is a free replacement for a card that u broke...(even thou u manage to convince them other wise...and also..how do u do it?)
U could try to request for a better card...in respect that u think this is not a par card to the TI4600...but u should be thankful that they even replace it with a 5600 for free....

Actually according to Anandtech the Ti4600 creams the 5600 Ultra in nearly every benchmark. I think I even saw one on Doom 3 where the Ti 4600 beat it too. I don't know how to find/use special feature like making clicky's for sites and do all the special things tht other memmbers in the THG community can do like with th lines replying to individual statesmets like Eden does. Anyways, if you cut and past this in your browser and look at all the benches ant Anandtech you'll see what i mean.

UFO is right...I saw the articles he was talking about...cept I'm at work and don't have the bookmarks where they were at...and even in DX9 games the ti4600 <i>somehow</i> pulls ahead of the 5600. Probably because the 5600 is a turd that you plug into your AGP slot. Even with any bells and whistles that might come with it...it isn't worth it. Cuz in the end it will just be a turd with bells and whistles. Well...I guess if you polished it, it would be a <i>shiny</i> turd. :tongue:
