Hello group,

I week or two back I posted that my computer is randomly restarting and I
found out that I'm not the only one with this problem. Anyways, the answers
I got were bad ram, video card (or at least the drivers) maybe even the
bios. I've ran two different memory tests and the ram is fine, updated
drivers and even switched video cards, and the problems still exists. I
found a few possible causes for these restarts one being the power supply. I
have a very good power supply but it is only 300 watts. I'm running a P4
2.6ghz, 1GB ram, Radeon 9200 video card, 2 cdroms, 2 HHD, a scanner that
uses a USB port for power, and eight fans total(4 case, two card
coolers,CPU,and the power supply) now, that seems like the most likely
answer is that it is on the edge when I'm running it normally and when I do
a few more things at the same time it can't handle the power drain. Am I
right to think this is my problem?

Thanks,
John

Yes, it is right to think that, considering the load you're putting on the
current power supply anway. You can get PSUs dirt cheap these days.

Here are many to choose from:

Had a friend with the same greif, got a bigger power supply an now it runs
fine.

I was thinking about a 510 watt power supply from pc power and cooling, that
is where my current one is from and it is a nice ps.
