Looking at getting a new video card for around $150.00. Main thing I do is play EQ and UT. Was wondering, since Im on a budget, if it would be better to get a card with more memory or a card that is slightly better: i.e.
A Radeon 9500 Pro with 128MB or a Radeon 9600 with 256MB.

If it helps, the performance difference between a Radeon9800pro with 128MB compared to 256MB is about 1fps on the majority of tests.

Go with the 9500pro.

the midrange card that u r getting...(due to the buget..) won't have a strong enough GPU to run the game @ high res (1600x1200) which will put the extra 128mb in use...
even the top class card like 9800pro and 5900ultra benitfit from the extra 128MB by a bit @ high res...so save the money for a better card instead of thouse useless ram...

The 9500 Pro will kick the crap outta that 9600. It has 8 pixel pipelines...far better than the 4 the 9600 has. I'd go with the 9500 for the better performer. The 256bit means crap...with 4 pipelines it is water under the bridge. 9500 Pro...enough said.

man, if you don't know what you're talking about...don't mislead people. Just tell him what you KNOW is true...don't make stuff up. The extra 128MB will do NOTHING for today's games at high res. High res works on bandwidth and with 4 pixel pipelines the 9600 can't compare even with 256bit to the 9500 Pro with all 8 pixel pipelines blasting. That's the same number of pipelines as the 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro. Even the 9600 Pro only has 4 pipelines. If you're going for the best out of both of those cards...go with the 9500 Pro and don't give two squirts of pizzle about the extra 128MB.
