<b>Hello i need some help choosing my new video card:

1. Which one ATI 9800 Pro 256 MB or NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Ultra?
I think ATI have better graphics her 6xAA is better than Nvidia 8xAA and it have 16xAF, its beats Nvidia but some tests i seen yet nvidia shows better fps on big resolution not much, 5-15 fps (seen only benchmarks and 1 game test in which nvidia probably cheated) but sucks on lower resolutions and it sucks in openGL hard.

2. Which brand should i buy:
For ATI: <A HREF="http://www.ati.com/products/radeon9800/radeon9800pro/index.html" target="_new">Build bt ATI</A>, <A HREF="http://www.sapphiretech.com/" target="_new">Saphire</A>, or what?
For Nvidia: <A HREF="http://www.asus.com/products/vga/v9950u/overview.htm" target="_new">ASUS</A>, <A HREF="http://uk.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?prod=476" target="_new">Creative Llabs</A>?, or what?

Anyone knows 3 top manufacturers for each ATI and NVIDIA?</b>

When in doubt, go for the more expensive card! Or just arbitrarily choose nVidia, on reputation alone!

Sounds like you're an AA fan, if so you should probably go Ati.

The framerate difference will not be noticable to you, but the AA quality will.

but matrox's parhelia has the highest AA filtering available. Though it could turn out to be blurry in many games.

real antialiasing is not blurry. only the nvidia fast modes really blur (as they sample surrounding texels.. aka, a blur filter).

the main blurriness factor is actually due the texture filtering, where you need high anysotropic to regain sharpness..

The Parhelia's AA is not blurry, in fact it is the BEST (one of the few things) in the BIZ. It's 16X FRAGMENT AA. It makes a BIG diff. with VERY little performance hit. It can also be used in Windows on text to make things look VERY sharp for reading, etc. Very great AA implementation IMO.

However that being said it's REALLY expensive for the rest of the performance figures it puts forth, so it has a very specific market and MOST gamers aren't in that market.

My advice is to bye both of them and test them with benchmarks, do many tests and spend a heap of time to find out which is better for you. Throw the other in the bin or give it to a mate.

If he doesn't die, he'll get help!!!
