I need suggestions from computer technicians. I applied for a technician job at a local computer repair shop. The shop is small with only three employees. When I get called in for an interview should I wear a suit or can I step it down a notch and wear pants and a polo shirt? My fear is being overdressed. It's not a corporate job after all.

More about : wear suit interview

Base what you should wear on the work environment and company itself, so in that case i would just wear a polo (probably tucked in with a belt), dress pants and some dark shoes (not gym shoes). I would only break out a tie if everyone else was wearing one, generally you want to conform to what they're wearing, if everyone is wearing a suit in the work place then you should be in one as well.

This would be very accurate. I'm sure a tucked in polo with slacks and nice shoes will do fine.

I differ in opinion here. And I have been the guy doing the interviewing in the past. If an applicant walked in to an interview with me dressed casually, I would round file the resume. It's an interview, treat it as such.

Just pants and polo shirt are ok. It is not necessary to wear a suit. It is too formal wearing like that. Just be clean.

Hi ! Wearing suite does not mean formal or causal in an interview. It only demonstrate to interviewer that you are serious about the job and you want to work with them. Wearing polo shirt and paints is also not negative at all. Just be confident and everything will be fine.

This thread is a few months old so it's probably too late for OP's specific situation, but generally speaking in a small business environment like that, I would almost say wearing a suit would hurt your chances more than it would help. Pants/Polo/Dress shoes is the way to go here. The most important thing is that you're comfortable and you can convey yourself and your potential to contribute to the business.

If anyone outside of the fashion industry bases their hiring decisions on your attire, then I would have to seriously question their management ability/strategy.

It's always good to know the consensus.
