I hope someone can solve this one for me as I'm getting really angry &
frustrated!!

Last Sunday, my browser kept showing "Page not available". Eventually, I
discovered that my connection had disappeared from Network Connections.
Looked in Device Manager but my modem was not there even though the two green
modem lights were on. Uninstalled it, and installed it again. Even though
the install seems to go OK, installs all the drivers, puts shortcut on
desktop etc., I still can't find my modem. My ISP is not being very helpful
on this so I'm hoping some kind person out there will have a solution. I'm
running XP Pro.

Many thanks

Some more information:

The two green modem lights are on - the internet connection icon in my
systray is showing - the modem is Speedtouch - I'm using a USB cable

shortest route to diagnosing your problem is to install a different
modem --- perhaps borrow one temporarily.
