Word : Username :

Hello all
I'm encountering a problem with my network. I have 2 PCs there are connected to a cable router, Linksys. I'm running Windows2000 on both PCs. Both PCs have printer and file sharing enabled. When I attempt to access a shared drive from PC#2 to PC#1, it said "incorrect password or username". It asked me to enter a password and username. The problem is that I didn't create a username for both PCs. I don't have a server running, just straight connect.

Thanks in advance.

you have to have the same username on both PC. Alternatively you can give the username and password as arguments to a net use command, like so:

NET USE * \\MACHINE_NAME\SHARE_NAME /USER:username password

It's always the one thing you never suspected.
