I am still on the hunt for a new graphics card and came across this..

<A HREF="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2752167374&category=27387" target="_new">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2752167374&category=27387</A>

Sounds pretty good, I have never heard of Grandmars and I am always a bit dubious about buying stuff off ebay.

Any suggestions?

Other than that its a 9600 pro from a retailer.

Based on the seller's rating, I'd definitely say that's legit.

well, there's nothing wrong with that.
but still, it could be better if they placed their own benchmarks.

There was another guy who came here wondering about "Grandmars" cards that "seemed to be ligitemate cards from Chinese outlets" that were sold on ebay. What was our conclusion on that guy?

i did a search on grandmars within this forum.

Someone called ad_rach asked the same question and there was no real conclusion.
i don't know if he still uses the boards but i sent him a pm to see if he actually bought one or not.

Mason,

I bought a Grandmars 9700 Pro from ebay from this exact same person, and overall I´ve been very pleased. I live in Spain, and delivery was very prompt. Board had one small problem when I received it, which the vendor sent me a patch for next day. For the price I was more than happy, and I found the vendor to be very good.

Problem appears to have been that the card came "overclocked". When I dropped the cpu/mem speeds to the ones listed on the advert on ebay it worked like a charm. Great picture quality too. Can´t remember the actual speeds, and they´ll be different on a non pro anyway. Might be worth checking that the one´s he lists in the add are the same as the "stock" 9700 before you buy, but other than that I´d say go for it.

vfrhawk seems to be happy with this card. I think it might be worth checking out. Grandmars is the top ATi board maker from China supposedly. So you probaly won't have problems. Uf your worried that it might not be up to par, check the memory and GPU settingss, and the bus-wdith. I'm going to click on your link aain this morning and see if I overlooked anything. It is worth 139 UK. How much would that price translate into the US.

The card is clocked at 275/270 & it also has the 256-bit mememory bus, just like its supposed to be. It doesn't appear that they skimpped on the card. I wish these were available in the Unitd States. What do you guys think?

There is an option for paying 10 Euros extra for Samsung 2.8 ns DDR RAM on the board. I'm currently wondering what RAM it has now. It'll probably be worth it to pay a little extra for better quality RAM. I have no idea how much 10 Euros is worth. I'm think maybe $12. But, I don't really know the value of a Euro.

P.S. Better RAM helps even at stock speeds. But it also really comes in to play especially if you plan to overclock. Quality RAM is manufactured in such a way that it can be easily overclocked, and also has such an efficient design compared to more generic types of RAM.

Ok, I'm glad to see your going for the Samsung memory version.

How much do other 9700 cards cost in the UK?

I received the card and it is exactly what it says.
I ran 3dmark01 and 03, played my usual game (Planetside) and this card is fantastic.
