Holy CRAP. And I mean by both the expression of amazement and to denote what the FX is!

So even with mixed mode it sucks badly!

Wow, the FX5600 is POS at best. ROFL, 9600 PRO owners are actually kicking the 5900 Ultra's arse, so UFO wasn't wrong. HAHAH!

Hil-freaking-larious!

I'll be wrong when the new "Optimizer 50" drivers are released. The 12 bit floating color is going to save nvidia's arse unfortunately, like you have said before. Sadly, most gamers won't notice that the "cheaptimization" greatly depreciated image quality in the new driver to recover lost performance. It's not fair to the world, nvidia you lying deceptive completely dishonest cutthroats! (Well for now at least)

I was kind of hoping that they wid test a more or less average system, like a 1.5Ghz, & maybe to GF2 cards and a Radeon 8500LE, GF3, & GF4 Ti4200. I'm getting the heebie-jeebies again. I'm hoping I'll even get to run the game in DX8 Fallback mod (cheap aren't I). Sad news is, that anybody who has an Nvidia card MUST use the DX8 Fallback mod for good performance. I guess the 5900 Ultra could barely slide by as barely playable in DX9, & nothing more. Nvidia cards should be run in a Fallback mode to make sure they can actually have an ejoyable experience with playable framerates. I wonder if Detonator 50 will help my Ti4200 cards. I know its lame, and its probably gonna look kind of crappy, but there is not much option left besides going for the 12-bit buffer. Overall, I think I should have invested a little more for an ATi card. I'm just gonna have to wait & see.

Radeon 9600 Pro is a fine card you have their. Compared to Nvidia products you got the bargain of a life-time.

And I expect the 9700pro would be right behind the 9800pro? If so, then a 1 year old card plays HL2 better than a few months old 5900 ultra. And so does a card costing 1/3 the price of the 5900 ultra with half the memory thats suppost to be competing with 5600's. I predict the end is near for Nvidea. Even the new drivers will just give ATI superior visual quality, and performance to match.

Its shocking that a company like Nvidea has to go back a step just to keep up with ATI's cards. Even a mid range card gives their best a good fight.

Not just the 9700 PRO... but the MIDRANGE 9600 PRO will also beat the top-of-the-line 5900 Ultra in DX9.

I wish they benched a 9500 PRO. Betcha it'd beat the 9600 PRO. ;)

Admittedly the 9600PRO performs so closely to its 9800PRO brother, so you must wonder just how optimized is the 9800PRO and its drivers. Where does the 9700PRO sit and how much value is in it anymore? And what about the fact the 9600PRO has 4 pipes? Does that mean HL2 actually is not pixel pipeline dependant like Splinter Cell, or what?

These things are confusing me and bringing questions up.

This is the 'shot heard round the graphics world' for the 21st century. ATI has usurped any and all crowns from Nvidia. If ANYONE disagree's they must have too many chromosomes. I would say to everyone 'I told you so' but I'm not that shallow. I'll say instead that 'I previously elecuted such information at earlier dates and times'...sounds so much more professional eh?

posible explanation for how close the 9800pro and the 9600pro are is that maybe the 9800pro score is limited by the CPU or another component?

Hey don't try and burst my Bubble you, you, you Bubble-burster!

Hey the R9600Pro bea all others in the FPS/$ category though! HEhe!

I'd like to see how low-end & mid-end systems perform with modest directx 8 cards like the Radeon 8500LE Ti4200 along with the DX9 cards as well

Huh?

What's 'elecued'? You know, of course, that elocution is a FORM/STYLE of speech not actually the act of speaking. Allocution also very similar. Now were you 'elucidating' or 'alluding to' or 'electing' that information? Now that would likely sound more proffeeeeeesional, or does the concept elude you?
