I'm a little annoyed at the ZM80A-HP because it doesn't allow me to use my new Tweakmonster ramsinks, I was wandering is it possible for me to use AS3 Thermal epoxy to attach the Zalman CNPS7000-CU to the GPU, I know it's a monster it's about 750grams. I'm just not sure if my card will stay in the AGP slot or would it snap off? Somebody please help.

Yikes... thats alot of weight.
Not only do you have to worry about bending the card/damaging the slot but also damaging the core.

Will you be just gluing it to the core alone or that support frame around it?

Be happy with what you've got and dont risk messing it up! Your card will last you a good year or more... Unless you have the money to replace it if things go wrong.

I removed the shim already. So it'll be attached just to the core.

Damn it oh well I guess now i have to return my Tweakmonster ramsinks, because the ZM80A-HP won't give me enough space to install them.

How much weight do you think the core can hold?

well not that much!
it all depends on die size and how the core is mounted.

Bear in mind the core was NEVER supposed to be a structual object!!!
that was the purpose of the shim thinggy.

Too much weight you can damage the core or rip it off entirely.
The problem is i dont think anyone know how much "too much weight" is.

I'm going to reattach my shim on my 9800pro what should i use Arctic Alumina epoxy? Since it's not conductive?

i dont THINK its conductive in its cured form...
Though it would be best to check first with the AS website.

For reattaching the shim i would just use a sparing amount of normal epoxy resin. Avoid the issue alltogether.

onlyuse the AS epoxy for the bits that NEED thermal transfer.

I'll help you out. But you have to promise to listen!

Use a smaller CPU cooler. Think adequate! It seems to me that a PIII 1U rackmount cooler would be about perfect, with around 2x the capacity of the stock fan and 4x the surface area of the stock sink, the weight would be acceptable, and it would only block off 1 slot below the card!

Also I have a LOT of airflow on my video card, so the reason y I'm switching from the ZM80A-HP is because I want to use the Tweakmonster ramsinks. Basically I'm looking for something that's about the same performance as the ZM80A-HP(with 4 fans 2 on plates and 2 blowing through).

Boy you are crazy. I have a volcano 10 on my 9800 Pro (soon ill put a diff. fan on it) which is more than adequate for HUGE overclocks. It weighs about 285 grams i think, I'm not sure how much the sk-6 weighs (more than that I know), but the zalman weighs more than TWICE as much! Get real dude.
My card is already bending in the slot (a little) with the volcano 10 and the tweakmonster ramsinks. Get ready for your computer to EXPLODE if you put anything much bigger on there.

Oh, and use Artic Silver Thermal Epoxy, WAY better than the Alumina garbage. (Just look up the heat-transfer properties of these metals: silver, platinum, aluminum, copper...)

When did you get the idea that i wasn't crazy at overclocking? I've killed my 9500pro and 9800pro once alrdy. Also killed my 1.2G Duron and 1700+. And 3 Power supplies. Also a pair of 2x256 pc2100 ram.

Ok, you guys scared me, I think i'll just do what Willamette did, get a Volcano 10 and attach a YS tech TMD fan on it. hey Willamette how is the Volcano 10 is it any good? I thought copper was suppose to be heavy but it seems on the Volcano 10 it's only 285 grams with fan.

I simply don't see the point of anything larger than a PIII low profile cooler. I mean, larger means more weight and more blocked slots. And I doubt additional cooling beyond what a low profile PIII cooler would provide would allow for higher clocks, as I expect the temps would be near ambient with one of these.
