Yeah, I read that review before I came over here. Nice little review. I have that HDR lighting demo on my comp, and, well, my comp is going to suffer. (Seeing as how my processor/ram/mb is lacking a little)

As each day goes by, I hug my 9600Pro just a little tighter.

It worried me when he said visually he saw little difference between DX9 and DX8 modes. IIRC he even commented HDR was as good. I'm confused now though. Could it explain why there is as much as a 2FPS drop MAXIMUM in DX9 mode than DX9 for the R3XXs?

Seriously though, is that actually a real demo or a video? It looks so real and apparently people felt occasional stutters!

Damn fine GFX too, I think Carmack may need to spend some more time updating the engine. HDR is the way to go and I hope he has it too. I know he has dynamic lighting and shadows.

i think you missed this line

"The benchmark was based on older levels, like Valve's E3 demo levels, which lack high-dynamic-range (HDR) lighting and other new DirectX 9-based effects"

the demos they dont include alot of DX 9 effects by sounds of it so that is probably why the IQ is so negligable
