Outlook Express does not appear as my default mail handler.I have tried to
make it so by going to tools then options and clicking on the option to make
it my default mail handler and then on apply, but it always returns to not
being the default. When I go to internet options in the control panel, then
programmes, there is nothing in the email box.I have no problems sending and
receiving mail, but cannot scan and email direct from my scanner as the
scanner cannot find outlook express .
I hope someone can solve my problem.

Go to Start, select Run
Type in: regsvr32 urlmon.dll.

Now open IE

Select Tools from the Menu, select: Internet Options, select Programs, Reset Web
Settings.

To make Outlook Express as the default mail client
Go to Start, select Run
Type in: msimn.exe /reg

For further information:
Restore OE to the E-mail List in Internet Options (Row 9)
