Acer Aspire 6935 how to remove DVD/CD player

The Dvd?CD driver seems to be broken. The drivers have been replaced and lens cleaned but not reading. Making funny noises. What would be a compatible replacement. des

Pull it out and see if it's a SATA connection or IDE, that's the only real compatibility you need to worry about.

SATA is typically a small plastic protrusion, and IDE is like a rectangle connector with connections on the inside rim.

It seems I have found 6935 models with both, so if you need to, take a pic of the connector and post it. I did find this for the dissasembly/service guide:
