Will I gain any performance?

Ok here is the situation. I have two identical computers. Pentium 4's 1.6ghz 400fsb 384mb pc2100. Win XP Pro. 300watt psu. Here is where I get confused; I play mostly lan games with buddies. Games like Q3 UT2003 and so on. One has an G3 ti200 and the other a Radeon 9700 PRO. I do not see any performance improvements on the 9700 compared to the ti200. Is it because of the CPU? ram? psu? Both cards have lataest drivers. Im assuming its a combination of all of those, but would appreciate any comments

The difference is when you turn the resolution up to max and AA and AF on. But what you are seeing is that once you get into the top range of computer components the increase in performance decreases as the price increases.

You just dont know what to look for yet....soon you will though.
Enjoy not knowing the difference while you can, once you start noticing, things start getting expensive:)

I help because you suck.

So you can't see the difference between Radeon 9700 and ti2 in Unreal 2003????

I (seriously) wish to have your eyes!!

Run a similar benchmark for both cards in UT2003 and see the results.

make sure you disable AA before the test.

Can you tell us the exact config of UT2003? This sounds quite strange ... I expect at least at high resolution/details the system (CPU/memory) is less a bottleneck so differences in GPU should be clear ...

UT2003 is a very good engine that works quickly with pretty much any videocard. Hell, I have a Radeon 7500 that delivers awesome framerates with UT2003.
You'd need to play other games to see the difference (Like Unreal2, Star Wars Galaxies, Tron 2.0, Jedi Academy, etc...)

If all you play is UT2003 though, an upgrade would be wasted on you. This is a testament to the developers of UT20003 that it runs so well on older hardware.

Um.. yeah. Ok.

Turn the detail settings on MAXXXX!!!!! for both cards and run at 1024x768. The ti200 will not even be playable. The 9700 Pro on the other hand can take a nap, and make breakfast for you at the same time.

Get real dude.
