Here's the new VecFlash loader with auto-patcher built-in and 3D glasses
fix -

Also, Alex has combined 4K games into 2 packs - that's 14 games in just 2
banks on the cart ! -

Excellent! I'll be testing it out tonight and I'll let you know if
there are any problems.

This is a great idea. How is the selection of the indivdual games
done -- do they show up on the main menu or will selecting '4k bank 1'
take you to another 'Alex menu' where you can select the binary you
want? (I guess the latter).

I take it that variable sized slots on the VecFlash is still are bit
in the future yet (if at all). If this functionality never happens
I'd still be pleased as punch with the way the VecFlash works
presently. Who knows, we mayt be able to make 'mini menus' within the
banks like what Alex done above.

He's currently working on the 8K games

It's not intentional, but it does look pretty cool. The starfield effect is
great on the Vec, I think it's the extreme brightness of the stars against
the very black background and the slight phosphor persistence which makes it
look so good.

>>You could probably fit the entire original game library into 4 or 5
banks, with plenty of room left over for newer things. In a way this
surpasses the Sean Kelly multicart, though credit must be given where
it's due -- the multicart design has served us well for almost a
decade.<<

I loaded the two banks of 4k games into the VecRAM cart. So it is
possible to make mini multicarts of these banks. This would satisfy
those on Atariage.com who are lamenting the loss of the Kelly
Multicart.

Yes, I should have mentioned that they are fully compatible with the VecRam,
and can obviously be put on a 27256 EPROM too.

If Sean hasn't got the time to make them anymore, why doesn't he get someone
else to make and sell them on his behalf ?

(I'm sure it's already being done with the 5200 cart)

Kev and I have been discussing this idea and have emailed Sean about
it. The problem seems to be that Sean is just totally incommunicado
as of late. Kev's worked with Sean before (Kev wrote the 5200 and the
short-lived Colecovision multicart menus for him) so it's not like
this isn't within the realm of possibility. A stumbling block for
doing this on our own is that Sean has invested the money to make the
molds for the cart cases and he is the sole source (and theres at
least one seller on the web but they get them from him). It makes no
sense to reinvent the wheel for new cases.

I think there's going to be a shortage of those cases and from what
I've gleaned of your Vecflsah in-progress posts that the the project
was held up a bit until the cases arrived. Who knows what other
homebrew projects will be affected because of this. Sure, we can use
the modified intellivision cart cases but that means we have to
cannibalize them and they just don't feel like a Vectrex cart, if you
know what I mean.

Kev also presented the idea to the group of custom made multicarts
with your choice of homebrews and a corresponding royalty paid to the
authors of those games. He didn't get a lot of response so we've
taken that as a sign they people just aren't interested (both
consumers and authors). Perhaps the Vecflash now fills that same
niche and a new multicart would be a duplication of effort. Another
fact is that a few years ago Sean stated that he'd sold well over 1000
Vectrex multicarts. Thats a *lot* for such a relatively small
community and maybe we've reached some level of saturation.
