need flexible DC power plug

Forum Mobile Computing : General Mobile Computing need flexible DC power plug

Simple question about a notebook accessory that should cost maybe $5: Does some sort of connector exist for a notebook's DC power jack that reduces the strain on the jack's connection inside the computer? That is, making it so the plug isn't wiggling around in the jack -- presumably by either (A) swiveling, or (B) somehow clamping firmly onto the notebook. My DC plug has become loose and wiggly (where it plugs into the laptop), and accordingly the power sometimes goes off until you jiggle the plug. I assume this is because a connection inside the laptop is loose. Although I'm still under warranty, at this point I'd rather buy some little connector thingy than deal with warranty repair. I know I've seen swiveling plugs for maybe telephones, or electrical outlets (?), where a similar movement needs to be allowed, but not within the jack-plug connection. I've searched for hours online an can't find anything. If I could go to a couple of electronics stores I could probably find this easily, but I'm living outside the US and the electronics stores here SUCK :(

i just make sure i have lots of slack there and keep a hold on the jack if i need to move the notebook around. I've only had this for nearly a week so i don't know if it actually works.

You can uplug the jack before you move it.
The notebook will not shut off if the battery is installed.
I don't know if that works on all notebooks but it does on mine.

I would send the notebook in for repair if it's under warranty.
A problem with the DC power jacks breaking on older Dell Inspirons was not uncommon. These jacks were connected on the motherboard and when they broke they would crack the motherboard. The only way to fix the problem was to replace the motherboard. Which is a very expensive repair.

i just don't want to unplug and plug it because I'm worried about the electrical arcing and surge when i do that. besides its mostly short distances.

actually my jack is still brand new... almost. I just do it as a preventive measure.
