Hmmm!
a good explanatory guide, but I do have some questions about the bestbuy in the 300$+ segment: WHY is ATI:s own cards and hercules cards better then, for instance, HIS, Saphire etc? If my memory serves me right, the Hercules 9700pro was inferior to the HIS and Saphire cards regarding the IMAGEQUALITY tests, not an unimportant part.

I'd love to see a link to support that supposed IQ diff. I HIGHLY doubt it though.

As for why they are where they are, build quality, and add-ons (ram sinks, HSF, extras). ATI's warranty is also the best in the business, and in many cases are the gold standard (the HERC are the platinum standard in many cases).
And as for Sapphire and HIS being below it's based on feed back from atual users and from the disparity in their cards (there are 3 builds of Sapphires ranging from their mediocre Atlantis to their Fireblade), and HIS has some nice additives (VIVO, an AIW line) but are a rather cheap build, but not crap.

But as a rule of thumb ATI own brand cards aren't available outside of the N.America continent and even if you can get them their warranty is handled by the store and not by ATI themselves.

I have a BBA card and the warranty is handled by ATI, I didn't buy it from a store.

As for outside of America, that is where HERC. comes in, they are very prominent in the E.U., but not as much in N.Am.
