I got a new PNY Fx5200 Ultra card, I know, but I only had a little cash! Card will not load on a Tyan S2099A Mainboard with latest bios and chip drivers. S2099A has a 2.0 compliant AGP Pro50 Slot. I currently running A PNY TI4200 4X AGP card with no problems. Will the 8x 5200 not run in this slot? Running Win98SE with 1GB DDR 2100 memory. Keep getting windows protection error on boot! Will run in safe mode. I tried msconfig to find trouble but no luck. Any suggestions? Or do I need a different MB, with 8x?

Thanks

I ran a pny 5600ultra in my non 8x asus board and it accepted it okay. The fan on the card wouldnt come on when it was supposed to but other than that the card didnt seem to mind my mobo. Because of the issue with the fan i returned it for a radeon 9600 which is also 8x and its been running well. It also worked just fine with my ancient agp drivers from via, i have since updated them but it made absolutely no difference.

That Ti4200 will be much faster than that FX5200 card on any game ANY day! Return that peace of @&$&@! and either keep your Ti4200 or get a better card.

Want to see a 5200U kick a Ti4200's ass?
Turn on a little AA & AF, and it's game over for the Ti4200.

ya, it's just sad how Ti4200 just can't process AA and AF fast, or else the card would really kick ass

That might be true, but still, moving from a Ti4200 to a 5200 Ultra isn't a wise reccomendation.
