R9800XT and R9600XT speeds finalized

Just thought you might be interested. Especially the R9600XT's speeds (as there is so little info).

I found it interesting in the second to last paragraph;

Radeon 9600XT has all it needs to outperform Radeon 9500 PRO, still king of the sub $200 market.

Well as someone who's clocked their R9600P at 500/300 and 500/350 for benching with CasualCat. I would tend to disagree with this last statement in the DX8 world. Certainly in the DX9 world, but it's pretty dang close to the R9500P at 500/350, and I don't think 500/300 is oing to give it the crown over the R9500P in DX8-class performance.
The R9600P already appears to have it in DX9 so that statement would be redundant if it were so specific.

Anywho that's how I see it.

They probably meant "stock" performance. I dont think a stock 9600 PRO will beat a stock 9500 PRO in much.

I haven't seen any DX9 benches that pit the 9600 PRO against the 9500 PRO... but I've been looking for 'em.

Are you basing that on the 9600 PRO's great showing with HL2, or are there any half life2/Aquanox2/Tomb Raider AOD benches I missed?

If so, can you point me their way Ape?

Thanks dood.

But the thing iseven at 500/350 I think GW's stock R9500P was a better performing card from what I remember (it's all hazy, Schtoopid Alcohol!).

As for the benchies, I'm basing tem on the R9700P benchies from the HL2 conference, and bing very liberal towards my card so I still have somethin to poke fun at Eden with.

I would assume that a standard R9500P would slightly underperform the R9700P and therefore I'd assume (for my benifit) that it would do better. That's all, nothing definitive yet, unfortuantely (as I wan more ammunition against Eden  )

As a 9500 PRO owner I CALL YOU OUT SIR!!!!

Remember that HL2 might be shader limited, and not bandwidth limited... in which case the 9500 PRO might get exactly the same score as a 9700...

Hmmmm... ah, what the hell. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt until we have a HL2 bench to play with.

Do you hear that Eden? I agree with Ape on this one! MUHAHA!

The GPU shouldn't be a problem. But the memory... well, time will tell.

Haven't tried to OC my 9500 yet, only the softmod.

So 9600 has almost the core running 90Mhz more?

That's interesting ... thinking that it seems pure DX9 games (HL2, etc.) are starting to be more CPU power dependent that memory limited, that extra Mhz can make 9600Pro VERY competitive against 9800 models, (looking at price/performance ratio)

Wanna see those benchmarks now!

Realistically, I think the 9600 XT core runs faster because it's easy to do. The 9600 GPU is an overclocking monster.

The 9600 runs so fast in the PRO that I reckon it's more bandwidth limited than anything else.

You are right. Let's see if any manufacturer build a 9600 XT Pro+ with very good memory! That would be like similar to 9900!

I WOULD love to see what an R9600P could do with 256bit memory running at those speeds. I think it would do VERY well indeed, and likely be cheaper than the R9800non-pro to make. Maybe someday we'll be able to find out in some other release (like a future mid-range, low-end model; after better cores come out).

Ah the future, always about the future!

I just got a

ATI 9600 Pro (128MB, 256-bit DDR, VIVO, 400MHz Core / 600MHz Memory, AGP 8X, CRT, DVI-I (2nd CRT via DVI converter) & TV-Out (PAL/NTSC))

it was $330 AUS

a day ago and it is realy good. I cant wait for Half life 2.

Thanks

Please provide link, as there is no review/info on ANY such creation. Are you sure it's not 256mb 128bit DDR? As there is currently nothing in ATI's line-up like that.

Who's the manufacturer? I bet it's a miss-print.

Sorry for doubting, but there isn't any such board out there to the bets of our knowledge, and sites are notorious for errors.

If you could run 3Dmk03 we could find out for sure.
