OK...

The first step to finding a solution is to tell us what problem you are experiencing.

Card is recognized on post, but hangs at Windows startup, windows protection error. On a Tyan S2099A MB with P4 2.4@533 1GB PC2100 memory. MB has latest bios and chipset drivers. Chipset is I845E. Current running a Pny TI4200 64mb card with no problems. MB has AGP PRO50 Slot 2.0 compatible.

Thanks

BIOS flashing does create the potential for problems occaisionally. Its possible that your BIOS flash could have screwed something up.

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

The problem is that your card is a 5200. Haha.

OK seriously... this sounds like a real beyotch. Grasping for straws here, but I might try:

1- Try the 5200 in another machine to see if it works OK. It might be a bad card.

2- With the 4200 in the machine, use detonator destroyer to remove all nvidia drivers. Shut her down and then try rebooting with the 5200. If it's a driver issue this might take care of it.

If that doesn't work, I don't know what to say. I hope you're running a decent power supply (at least 350 watts name brand or 400 watts generic) with this rig...

BIOS flashed awhile back when it first came out. Haven't had any problems. The Ti4200 uses the same drivers as the FX5200. Maybe a bad card?

Thanks

It doesn't matter if the drivers are the same ones.

Detonators are famous for botching things up when you change cards. If you get rid of the detonators you can at least rule out that they are screwing up your system.

It gives a chance for the OS to detect the card clean, *then* to reinstall the dets.
